Soul Saturday and Forgiveness Vespers
This event takes place at parishes in anticipation of the Great Lenten Season.

During 2007, Christ the Saviour Cathedral hosted a Pan Orthodox Liturgy which followed by breakfast and talks by Fathers Gillquist and Walker. Here is a recap on that day on February 17, 2007, and reprinted below for your pleasure.
In conjunction with our celebration of Soul Saturday, His Eminence Archbishop NATHANIEL, Bishop of Detroit and Head of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate, concelebrated a Hierarchal Divine Liturgy. The Right Rev., The Bishop MARK, Retired Bishop of Boston, Very Rev Fr Philip Reese, our Pastor and Rector, participated with Rev Fr Peter Gillquist and Rever Fr Gordon Walker, in the Divine Liturgy with Archbishop NATHANIEL.
Following the Hierarchal Liturgy, a brunch was served in our Social Hall for area clergy, parishioners, visitors from both the South Florida Deanery, and from the Orthodox Christian Laity (OCL), which was hosting a conference in Miami Lakes.
Frs Gillquist and Walker gave inspiring presentations celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Evangelical Christians who were accepted into Orthodoxy. Fr Gillquist is the author of "Becoming Orthodox" an inspiring account of Evangelical Christians on a search for the Church of the New Testament who found it in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
Fr Walker coordinates work of new church development within the Department of Missions and Evangelism and has established many new mission churches for the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese. Fr Gillquist is Director of the of the Department of Missions and Evangelism also with the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese.
Our Social Hall was filled to near capacity with faithful and visitors from throughout the South Florida Deanery, which encompasses OCA parishes from Ft Pierce to Miami. Our Social Hall was expanded to full size when we moved into our new Cathedral in October 2006. Our celebrations concluded with Forgiveness Vespers. [story taken from various media sources]
